Today Jinjin, I Hyun, Weilin, Alex M. and I went to Pudong right after school ended to attend a meeting scheduled for us and our sponsor, Goodwin Wang. I have to say, our talk with Goodwin was extremely inspirational! I hadn't met him before when Jinjin, Alex Z and Weilin did at the Auto Convention last year for the first time, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Yet now that I've met him, I'm so glad that EggsChange caught his attention and was glad to know he, someone so full of experience, thinks that our project is one worth his support.
The pointers that he gave us on our box design were pretty helpful, and he also gave us a short account of his own back story after giving us constructive criticism on what he thought we could improve on. Overall, I think hearing about Goodwin's path to success was the best part of the meeting, because it was actually extremely motivational.
He told us about how he used to live in a village so poor that he couldn't afford to go to a good college in China even though he earned all A's in his classes. Upon finishing secondary school, he actually went to the countryside, to an area even more impoverished than that which our supported farmers live in! Talking about how harsh the conditions were on the countryside on which he lived for a couple of years, Goodwin inspired us by elaborating on how he persevered and eventually went to a good school and decided to give back to the countryside that raised him. After telling us that, he said "this is why I want to help your project." It was moving to know that he had such a personal connection to China's countryside, and that he wanted to give back to his own community. Oftentimes, we see that so many people who succeed forget to give back to the community that built them to become the successes that they now are; it was really great to know that someone with such a good heart was providing EggsChange with support.

P.S. On another lighter note, after our meeting in Pudong, the five of us went to see out this restaurant that served the biggest burgers in Shanghai! We went to "Yasmin" and the burger surely didn't disappoint. It took all five of us to finish, and was surely a great way to end the day.
P.P.S. Happy CNY. Good luck to everyone taking the SAT :)
